Help! I Have Lost My Identity

I do not know about you, but becoming a homeschooling mom was exciting and let down at the same time. I was a mom with a career that I loved. A career that had taken me 6 long years of college to complete. Here I was giving up all of my hopes and dreams to stay at home. I was literally confused. (more…)

I Don’t FEEL Like Adulting Anymore

Today I woke up and felt tired. I felt sad, annoyed and just grumpy. I didn’t want to get out of bed. I didn’t want to clean the dog pee on the floor or make my kids breakfast. I didn’t want to make my husband his lunch. And I definitely didn’t want to wash the dishes, do the laundry, pick up the house, or the other never ending list of chores that I always have.

I do NOT FEEL like adulting anymore. I QUIT!!! (more…)

New Christmas Song – Finish Line (Chance)

Happy Birthday Jesus

Seeing the world through music sometimes helps to ground me. To remind me of the reason for the season. That as a country we may all be different, but that we have A God that loves all of us the same. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!! Thank you God for sending your one and only son, to die for us, to wash away all of our sins, so we could spend eternity with you.

The Tumbling Falsehood of Perspective When Peace is Needed

I am sitting in my living room, looking around. Things are a mess. It looks like a tornado went through my house, granted that tornado is my 2 wonderful kids. It is so easy to be overwhelmed by the tasks of everyday life. And if you are a stay-at-home mom trying to keep your house clean, is like trying to stop a river from flowing. It never stops.

But, then I looked around my house again. I looked a little bit harder, I saw the kids stockings, our advent calendar my mom made. It’s nice and warm and I just feel at peace. I am so blessed, but, sometimes I am just too busy to notice.

Perspective is the judgement that we make of a situation, person, or idea.

Our perspective impacts the way that we view our life. The way that we live our life. The things that we think are right or wrong. It impacts all of our choices.

The perspective of,  Why can’t God grant my prayers now? Why do I have to wait so long. If we give into our false beliefs and have the perspective that God doesn’t care because He isn’t answering my prayers, then we could be in for a lot of heart ache. Expectations that are not met. Feelings of sadness, anger and disappointment surface and we are left with a broken soul.

“The Lord is not slow in his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you…” (2 Peter 3:9a)

So let’s look at an example of how perspective can really change our choices:

You lose your job. You have been out of work for 6 months and unemployment is about to run out. You have been praying to God to give you a job so that you can support your family, but, He is not listening. You have been on at least a handful of interviews and nothing has worked out yet. How can He let your family suffer like this? Isn’t He suppose to provide for you and your families’ needs? Anger starts to set in. You thought that God would be there for you. He has proven otherwise. You start to look for a job anywhere that you can, and finally find one waitressing at a local restaurant. You work long hours. You work nights and weekends and barely see your kids. But, their needs are being met. You feel a sense of self accomplishment. See God what I did on my own. I don’t need you.

OR
You lose your job. You have been out of work for 6 months and unemployment is about to run out. You have been praying to God to give you a job so that you can support your family. You know that God will surely provide, but in His own time. You start to go to the food pantry and work odd jobs to make ends meet. Money is really tight, but everything that you or your family needs is taken care of. One day a company that you never thought would be interested in you calls. They want to see you for an interview. Maybe this is the break that you need. You sit down to pray, “Dear Lord, give me your wisdom and the right words to say at the interview. May your will be done. If I do not get the job, I know that you have something better in store for me and my family. May we trust in you Lord always. Amen” You go to your interview and a week later receive a phone call. You got the job. You will be making more money than you ever thought. You have great hours. You have all the holidays off and quite a few vacations days. The Lord is amazing. You feel safe, secure and at peace.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2)

We have a false belief that God will bless us by making us comfortable. No where in the Bible does it say this. But, we want to believe it anyways, because it is easier than thinking about all the hurt and pain that the world brings.

“God brings peace within us – not around us”

Finding Peace – John 14:27

What if all that we needed to know was a man named Jesus to find peace?

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

I want you to memorize this verse. I will repost it on our Facebook page everday for the next week.
Write this verse down and read it everyday.

Know that Jesus’ peace is unlike any peace we have know.

It holds you and lets you relax.

So when you feel stressed this Christmas season, stop and ask Jesus for His peace.
