The Power of Prayer!! Do You Believe It? James 5:13-18
I pray every morning and every night before I go to bed. But do I truly believe in the power of prayer, or has it become a ritual of checking off my checklist of things that I must do for God each day? Do I really have a good relationship with God if my prayer life is luke warm?
Suffering Hardships (Severe Suffering)
Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. ~ James 5:13
No matter what you are going through God hears your prayers. Do we pray continuously? Or after awhile you stop praying because it feels like God is not answering your prayers?
Never stop praying. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. ~ Colossians 4:2
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. ~ Romans 12:12
The Lord is Far Away
It’s hard to keep praying when you feel like you have lost hope. When you are not sure that God is listening.
The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. ~ Psalm 145:18
The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayers of the righteous. ~ Proverbs 15:29
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him
for all that He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7
The Lord is never far from us at all times. It just feels like He isn’t near, when we are not sending our thoughts up in prayer continuously. We need to know that everything can be given to Him in prayer. That His love and peace is waiting for us to just take it. To bathe in His peace, that will guard our hearts and minds from doubt. Protecting us from losing hope. Because that is exactly what Satan wants. For you to turn away from God, to lose hope, to stop praying and ultimately lose your faith.
“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the Spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” ~ Matthew 26:41
I am watching so many people walk away from their faith. Not because Jesus isn’t real and didn’t die on the cross for us, but because the mind is feeble in it’s understanding of the truth. Our body wants to be in control, while our prayers lack the idea of having the Holy Spirit help us to stay away from temptation. We think that we can continue to fight an enemy that is coniving and the father of all liars, without God’s help. How foolish we are. God’s protection in the form of our prayers and reading His Word is more than sufficient in defeating our enemy. We need to realize this before it is too late.
Confessing my Sins
I do not want to admit to my sins. They are painful. They make me feel guilty. I don’t want people to see who I truly am inside. When I try to hide my sins, they mutate into new ones that are even worse. Taking me down with them and making me look like the idiot that I truly am.
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. ~ James 5:16
Confessing my sins to God is easy. I can ask God for forgiveness without anyone knowing who I truly am. But, when I tell someone else about my sins, when I truly see who I am in the mirror, then and only then does the true guilt hit me. The pain of what I have become looms in front of me like a shadow that haunts every corner in my house.
The best part is that I do not have to keep my guilt, shame, or the shadow. Praying with others, helps me to wipe out that sin. I know that I can pray to God at anytime and ask Him to forgive me of my sins. While, this cleanses me, it may not change me in the way that I want.
It isn’t until I show the world who I really am that I start to change. The Holy Spirit shoves me in the right direction, and drags me when I do not want to keep going. The Holy Spirit has way more strength, than my body does
If you are suffering from hardships, continuously pray. Keep praying, even when you do not see results. God’s timing is not the same as our timing.
Know that God is always near. He will NEVER leave you nor forsake you. In Him, we will find the refuge and protection that we need from Satan. In Him, we will keep our peace.
Finally, confess your sins to others. When we continue to hide our sins, it will manifest itself into something worse than before. Till we do not know who we are anymore. Do not take those small sins for granted. Satan latches on to our smallest weakness and continues to chip away at their walls until we have a gaping hole that is hard to fix. Confess your sins to someone else today. Then have that person pray with you.
Prayer is more powerful than our human minds can understand. Prayer lets God hear us. Prayer creates the impossible. Prayer keeps us on the right track. Prayer allows God to move in our life. Prayer is everything.
What are you going to do today to change your prayer life??
May God bless you and keep you,
